Edward Winterhalder to Appear on "Gangland" TV Series in the United States on the History Channel
Edward Winterhalder will be featured as a historian and commenting on the positive aspects of motorcycle clubs in an upcoming episode of "Gangland" on the History Channel. "Bandido Army" debuts in the United States on October 17th at 9pm EST; it will air again on October 18th at 1am EST and November 9th at 8pm EST. The episode is about the killing of a champion boxer in San Antonio by a member of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club in 2004.

Edward Winterhalder to Appear on "Outlaw Bikers" - A new TV series on History Television in Canada
Edward Winterhalder will be featured in October and November 2008 on History Television's new series "Outlaw Bikers" as a historian and commenting on the positive aspects of motorcycle clubs.
The series debuts in Canada on October 14th, but Winterhalder will not appear until the 3rd episode which will air on October 28th; he will also be in the 4th and 5th episodes which will air on Nov 4th and Nov 18th respectively.
The 1st episode (October 14th) of the series is about the infiltration of the Mongols in California by ATF agent Billy Queen and the 2nd episode (October 21st) is about the infiltration of the Hells Angels in Arizona by ATF agent Jay Dobyns; both of these episodes aired in the United Sates earlier this year on the National Geographic channel.
The last three episodes document Mom Boucher, Danny Kane, the Hells Angels, Rock Machine and Bandidos in Canada.

A former top motorcycle gang leader who wrote a book about his group's dealings with the Hells Angels will be traveling to the Lakes Region during Bike Week.
Edward Winterhalder or "Connecticut Ed" as he was known when he helped head the "Bandidos Motorcycle Club", will be appearing in Laconia at the Sundial Shop for signings of his newest book, "The Assimilation: Rock Machine Becomes Bandidos — Bikers United Against the Hells Angels."
Winterhalder, 52, was once a top leader of the worldwide "Bandidos" gang and has since taken up a life dedicated to chronicling the history of biker gangs and promoting the positive aspects of motorcycle clubs.
The longtime biker is promoting "The Assimilation" — a book that takes readers through a turbulent time in biker gang history in the 1990s when the Montreal branch of the Hells Angels declared war on all competing biker gangs in an attempt to secure drug territory in the Canadian province of Quebec.
It was a time of great violence and after seven years of bloodshed that left upward of 160 people dead and many more injured, it was only the "tough as nails" Rock Machine that avoided being destroyed by a particularly rough group of Hells Angels.
Winterhalder, 52, has an inside knowledge of the situation, having been a recruiting leader for a "Bandidos" clan that merged with the Rock Machine in an effort to ward off being taken down by the Hells Angels in Montreal led by then-leader Maurice "Mom" Boucher.
In the early 1990s, after seven years of bloody conflict with Montreal's Hells Angels, Quebec's Rock Machine motorcycle club appealed to the Bandidos for help. Winterhalder, a born diplomat with an extensive knowledge of law acquired while incarcerated in the early 1980s, was dispatched to Canada in 2001 to coordinate the transition (or "patchover").
The Assimilation takes readers behind the scenes of Winterhalder's arrest and unsuccessful deportation proceedings by the Canadian authorities, Bandido politics, double-crosses and assassinations. The book also contains a glossary of biker terms and seven appendices citing club bylaws, projects and job assignments and a worldwide listing of active chapters and support clubs.
The author has since left the biker gang culture and has raised a young daughter.
He is the subject matter of upcoming television shows on the biker lifestyle "Sons of Anarchy" on the cable network FX and is creating a more positive documentary on the biker clubs focusing on a Vietnam Veteran riding group in Pennsylvania.
His next book "Biker Chicks: The Magnetic Attraction of Women to Bad Boys" is due out in May of 2009, but he is making his way to New Hampshire to take in Bike Week.
He said his most recent book is something any biking enthusiast will want to pick up.
"The Assimilation was a major piece of history in the biker world and it needed to be portrayed as accurately as possible for historical reasons," explained Winterhalder.
Winterhalder was among the top brass in the Bandidos, only reporting to one senior club member.
"My assignments were to grow the club and increase communications between the chapters," he explained.

The author said he has seen his share of bad bikers, though he assured that most members are law-abiding citizens, and he is working on documenting their true nature in books and movies.
"That (criminal) element is the only one that comes in contact with law enforcement. The majority of club members have regular jobs and families. It's a very small population (of criminal bikers) that you read 90 percent of the articles about," said Winterhalder.
The former club leader said bikers in such organizations are secretive by nature, like members of groups like the Masons or those in the Elks Club.
He said he spent a long time avoiding the criminal element while serving with the Bandidos and he described himself as a big advocate for motorcycle clubs.
Winterhalder lives in Oklahoma now, but has strong ties to New England and the Lakes Region.
His grandfather Leon Draper — a noted construction contractor in his day — is buried in Laconia's Bayside Cemetery and helped "build Laconia," according to Winterhalder.
He said Draper helped construct Laconia's fire station and the penny arcade in Weirs Beach before dying in 1981.
When asked about Laconia Bike Week, he said "I've always had a lot of fun up there. I love the area and it has some of the most scenic and beautiful riding in the country. I can't wait to come back up."
Winterhalder rides a 2006 Harley Davidson "Street Bob" and will be motoring to the following bookshops for signings of his most recently published book:

Edward Winterhalder Attends The Academy Of Country Music Awards Show & Charity Harley Ride
Edward Winterhalder, celebrity biker and author of books about the biker lifestyle, has just returned from Las Vegas, Nevada, where he participated in the 5th annual Montgomery Gentry Academy of Country Music Charity Ride, held on May 17, 2008.
This year the riders, led by Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry, rode about 60 miles from Las Vegas up in to the mountains near Mount Charleston, where they had lunch with the more than 1,000 bikers that rode with them, to raise money for the Academy of Country Music’s Charity Fund.
Along with American Gladiator star Hollywood “Wolf” Yates, country music stars Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Craig Morgan, James Otto, Bluefield, Carolina Rain, Keith Anderson, Trick Pony alumni Heidi Newfield and Ira Dean, Cody McCarver, The Road Hammers, The Roys, Stephen Cochran, Emma Mae Jacob, Richie McDonald and Sarah Buxton were among those who took part in the benefit, which kicked off at Las Vegas Harley-Davidson and ended at Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.

Former Bandido Now Focuses On His Book, Businesses, Family Life

He was known as "Connecticut Ed" in the Bandidos Motorcycle Club, where he served for years as an organizer and international ambassador. Outlaw biker is one of many hats worn by North Branford native Edward Winterhalder. Others have included musician and songwriter, motorcycle and heavy equipment mechanic, husband and father, business owner and author.
Winterhalder's new book, "The Assimilation" (ECW Press, $24.95), is due out in June. Co-authored by Wil De Clercq and subtitled "Rock Machine Become Bandidos — Bikers United Against the Hells Angels," the book details Winterhalder's efforts to take Canadian bikers into the Bandidos' fold amid a bloody war in Quebec.
That effort ultimately failed, and for various reasons, Winterhalder quit the Bandidos in 2003. It was a bitter split, but Winterhalder, 52, says he's happy now that the club has no claim on his time.
The self-described workaholic — who lives in Owasso, Okla., with his wife, Caroline, and 15-year-old daughter, Taylor — heads eight businesses under the banner Blockhead City ( http://www.blockheadcity.com/), including construction, finance and entertainment companies. He's also recorded several albums under the name "Warren Winters," has written and contributed to other books about the biker life and is now marketing a new TV series about real bikers.

Dr. Arthur Veno and Edward Winterhalder are in the process of writing a book called “Women Bikers and Bikers’ Women, which will be published worldwide in the spring of 2009. What's Been Happening While We Have Been Filming The Pilot For The "Living On The Edge" DVD/TV Reality Series
These past few days have been filled with excitement for the people who live in the Reading area. Filming began on Thursday for the pilot of the DVD/TV reality show ‘Living on the Edge’. Throughout the weekend the crew filmed certain Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club members in their daily lives. The cameras followed them to their jobs, homes, and club functions. On Friday, July 26th the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club welcomed Mike Crowe from Johnson Controls in Milwaukee. Later that day White’s Harley-Davidson in Lebanon, PA lent a pair of 2007 motorcycles to Crowe and Ed Winterhalder, the author of “Out In Bad Standings", for the weekend. Lancaster NBC TV8 was there to catch Crowe riding away on his Harley rental.
Friday evening, everyone enjoyed dinner at The Bar-B-Que Pit in Wernersville, PA, where a crowd gathered for all the excitement in hopes of being caught by the camera. Saturday morning, July 27th, the traffic was slow due to the pack of nearly one hundred Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club members on their motorcycles heading for White’s Harley-Davidson. When they arrived at White’s the pack was welcomed by a live band and a crowd of more than 500 people. Inside of White’s, Dennis Fritz, the author of “Journey to Justice” was greeting fans and signing books, and Harrisburg ABC TV27 was interviewing all of the celebrities involved in the event.
On Saturday night the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club had a party at their clubhouse for area bikers at the Meadowbrook Country Club in Reading. On Sunday, July 28th the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club held a picnic at Blue Falls Grove for the Iraqi war veterans and their families. There was a live band and plenty of food as Reading ABC TV69 stopped by to capture the moment. Reading’s own, Frank 107.5 was there to show their appreciation for our veterans as well. As this weekend comes to a close, post production is anxious to begin. The television pilot for “Living on the Edge: Riding With The Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club in Pennsylvania” as a full length DVD, is scheduled to hit the shelves in your nearest entertainment store around the holiday season.
